–By Rail
To Totnes station; we are about a mile from the station – a pleasant walk or a short taxi ride. Except at rush hour the taxi will be about 5 minutes; in heavy traffic allow 15-20 minutes.
–By Air
To Exeter or Plymouth is easiest, then train as above. Otherwise fly to Bristol airport and come by train.
- Walking
(Shortest Route – allow 30-35 minutes) walk from Totnes station towards the main road (coming from Exeter, turn right; from Plymouth turn left). Then turn right onto Station Road, walk 100 yards to the traffic lights, cross over and turn left onto the Western Bypass. Take the first turn right, Barracks Hill. Follow this road up the hill and then continue for about half a mile. Take the next left turn, Sawpit Lane. Follow this road until it becomes Droridge Lane. You will pass a road to the right (Droridge) into an estate of bungalows; shortly after this is an unmarked concrete farm track to the left. Take this – Droridge barn is the last on the right at the end of the track.
(Scenic Route – allow 45 minutes) If coming from Exeter / London, from the platform, cross the footbridge to the other side of the tracks. If coming from Plymouth you’re on the correct side. Take the narrow footpath directly in front of you across the car park. Keep following the path and you will find yourself with the river on your right. You are now on the main footpath and cycle track to Dartington. Keep going until the path meets a road; turn right onto the road, and left in about 50 yards, again onto the cycle track. The path crosses a meadow and goes through some woods and past an old mill with a water wheel. It comes out eventually at the Dartington Cider Press – shops and craft centre. Take the little bridge across the river. On your right is Shinners Bridge roundabout. From there, directions as for car travel from Exeter above.
